Questa serie, ovvero la R170, venne prodotta dal 1996 al 2000 e gli esemplari costruiti furono 44.846.
La sigla SLK sta per Sportlich (sportiva), Leicht (leggera) e Kompakt (compatta), infatti quest’auto è famosa per essere agile, compatta e pratica.
Un’altra caratteristica importante della vettura, nonché una rivoluzione dell’epoca, era il tettuccio rigido ripiegabile che trasformava l’auto da una rodaster a una coupé in pochi secondi. Grazie a questa innovazione si andava a sostituire la classica capote in tela e veniva messo da parte l’hard-top,dispositivo costoso e ingombrante da rimuovere e conservare in garage durante i mesi più caldi.
L’auto è di colore grigio metallizzato e gli interni, descritti come confortevoli, sono in pelle nera, il cambio è automatico a 5 rapporti e il motore a 4 cilindri in linea da 1998cc sprigiona una potenza di 136 CV. Questa vettura possiede vari confort: aria condizionata, sistema audio performante per l’epoca, regolazione elettrica dei sedili, ABS, airbag e servosterzo.

This series, the R170, was produced from 1996 to 2000 and 44,846 examples were built.
The acronym SLK stands for Sportlich (sporty), Leicht (light) and Kompakt (compact), in fact this car is famous for being agile, compact and practical.
Another important feature of the vehicle, and a revolution at the time, was the folding hard-top, which transformed the car from a rodaster to a coupé in seconds. This innovation replaced the classic canvas soft top and did away with the hard-top, an expensive and cumbersome device that had to be removed and stored in the garage during the warmer months.
The car is metallic grey and the interior, described as comfortable, is in black leather. It has a 5-speed automatic transmission and is powered by a 4-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 1998cc, delivering 136 HP. This vehicle has various comforts: air conditioning, a high-performance sound system for the time, electric seat adjustment, ABS, airbags and power steering.
The previous owner had carried out work on the shock absorbers and brake system, in fact the car currently has 4 new shock absorbers and 4 new brake discs. Additionally, the last service was carried out at a Mercedes dealer.
